Ellen L. Wright, Ph.D.
Ellen L. Wright, Ph.D., co-founder of CPES, is a Licensed Psychologist and Certified Psychoanalyst in private practice in Philadelphia. She is a faculty member and Senior Supervising and Training Analyst at the Philadelphia School of Psychoanalysis and a faculty member at the Center for Group Studies in New York City. Dr. Wright has pioneered the development of group techniques for the treatment of patients with physical illnesses and has expanded the scope of psychotherapy to previously therapeutically resistant populations. Dr. Wright has conducted training groups and seminars in the United States, Canada, and abroad, and has lectured and authored papers on innovative applications of modern analytic psychotherapy. Her years of experience as an individual and group therapist, teacher, and supervisor are evident in the unique and practical topics she presents for CPES participants. Dr. Wright is an enthusiastic and dynamic instructor with a talent for communicating difficult clinical issues with clarity and humor.
Barbara N. Smith, Ph.D.
Barbara N. Smith, Ph.D., co-founder of CPES, is a NAAP Certified and Licensed Psychoanalyst in private practice in Philadelphia. She is the former President of the Philadelphia School of Psychoanalysis, and for many years served on their Board of Directors and was a member of the faculty. Currently, she is a Senior Training and Supervising Analyst at the Institute. Dr. Smith has been a guest lecturer at local training institutes, and presented workshops for CPES and mental health agencies in the tri-state area. She is particularly well known for her supervisory skills, which are enhanced by her many years of experience as an individual and group therapist. Dr. Smith has broadened her therapeutic expertise through the study of positive psychology, its possible applications to traditional psychotherapy, and its effectiveness in working with a client’s efforts to accomplish specific short-term goals.
